Reflection: I felt more knowledgeable after this assignment as it really expanded my vocabulary to describe garments. I believe that it is vital to be able to express your own garment design details to your client in future.

Week 5- A Trip To Orchard Road

Week 5- A Trip To Orchard Road

The purpose of our visit to high-end stores was to broaden our perspective to the real fashion world. As I got the opportunity to try on these expensive garments, I began to understand why some people would splurge their money on top-notch quality garments as such.

Valentino Black Lace Dress

Technical drawing of Valentino black lace slip dress

This slip on dress is a high neck garment with a stand up collar and round neckline.

This dress is made out of sheer black lace and there is a lining inside the translucent slip dress. The skirt silhouette is A-line.

The long sleeves are decorated with black lines and sheer lace.

I really love the intricate details on the lace and the delicacy of the fabric. However, this dress turned out to be slightly loose for me. But even if the dress perfectly fits my petite size and I truly adore it, I would not splurge my money on this extravagant dress that cost $8000.

Burberry Lace Tiered Dress

Technical drawing of the tiered dress.

This tiered dress has a sheath silhouette and it is maxi length.

The lace sheer sleeves are 3/4 length, and there is a black tulle cuff ruffles at the end.

The dress is made out of sheer black lace and black tulle that looks like gathered ruffles.

The dress has a slim fit and that falls perfectly on the body.

The back of the dress is button up. I think it gives a classier look and it preserves the beauty of intricate details of the lace, instead of using a zipper.

This Burberry dress that I tried on costs $14,500. The detailing on the dress really blew me away and I think that it was really worth the hefty price, judging thoroughly by the way its made. It was also a beautiful piece that was recently featured on the runway. I was so honoured to be able to try it on.
